Plan ahead for fall wedding favors.

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Thle other day I was reading a wedding guide and I was surprised at some of the suggestions, one in particular, for wedding favors.

The guide suggested that brides and couples buy favors about 4 weeks prior to the wedding date.  This timeline may work in some situations, for example when the favors are to be Jordan almonds tied in raffia. But truly unique favors may need more time to produce.

Take for example our fall leaf theme wedding favors.  To begin with we make all of these favors by hand.  This means we start with raw clay and work it into the shape of fall leaves and fire them at a high temperature in a kiln.  The process it self can take a week or better.  If personalization is involved then we need to add 2 weeks for production of the stamping plate that will emboss the names and date wedding or event.  Even after the favors are finished firing the vials of fragrance must be filled, boxes must be purchased, ribbons are tied in each favor and the customized card is printed, cut and folded.  All of this takes time.

However the one variable that can take the most time is the que.  This is becase fall has become a very popular time for weddings.  And this means a higher demand for fall wedding favors.  It’s just that simple.  Depending on demand it can take us anywhere from 4 to 10 weeks to deliver an order of favors during the autumn season.  If this is the case for our hand crafted favors what about others?  It might be better to play it safe and get the delivery times locked down early, even if you do not intend on buying early.  All it takes is a phone call or email to inquire and that can save a disappointment when the time has run out.

So I will respectively disagree with the wedding guide that says buy favors 1 month prior to the event.  In my opinion this would be a mistake.

Personalized wedding favor update.

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

The other day a I took a call from a customer asking a question about personalized wedding favors. I directed them to the page on the site to view an example only to find that there was no example of what they were looking for.

I was surprised because I was sure I had included a good overall example of different personalization treatments on the site. Not only that but the examples that were there did not look as good as they should. At one time we thought these photos were fine but we were wrong so it was high time they were updated.

We gathered a new batch of ornaments and personalized wind chime tops and set them out on the kitchen table and shot away. The results are much better than the previous samples.

Please check out the updated personalized wedding favor page.

Oh and by the way they are way more than just wedding favors. Birthdays, sweet 16, anniversaries and special thank you gifts are just a few of the uses.

Fall favor ideas in a video.

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Our fall wedding favors have long been a very popular choice for autumn weddings and any occasion where a leaf motif fits into the design scheem.

We often get questions on how to improve on the favor idea, in other words what can be done to improve the presentation.  So we decided to make a video and post it on the site.  The video is on the fall wedding favor page along with information on our hand crafted favors.

To begin with our favors make a good impression by themselves, with the nice gift box and the straw colored tissue paper.  The personalized card lets the guest say a few words.  But many people want to make a bigger splash and so here are some ideas on how to do just that.

By combining easily found materials like small woven baskets and fall themed goodies its easy to make a unforgetable presentation.

Some of the materials we used are Maple Cream Cookies by the Turkey Hill Company of Canada.  We found them in TJ Maxx but they are available from the web site too.
